What is the Musculoskeletal System (MSK)?

The MSK system is a complex network of muscles, bones, joints, tendons, and ligaments that offers us the ability to perform our daily activities. The MSK system supports everything we do and provides structure, protection and function to the body.

What is a Musculoskeletal Condition?

MSK conditions include a wide range of disorders that impact bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints and connective tissue. They may result from physical trauma or other causes such as overuse. If not managed promptly, MSK injuries may become chronic and result in debilitating pain and dysfunction.

Why Good MSK Health Matters?

Low back pain is the leading cause of disability worldwide and can become more of an issue as you age. Over the years, you can develop habitual ways of using your muscles to move and position yourself. Poor posture and a lack of flexibility may be the result of limited stretching and improper body alignment. With age, your muscles naturally tighten which can lead to poor posture and back pain. The good news is that we can do something about this.  By incorporating exercise and stretching into your daily routine as well as working to change some of your work habits you can help improve your MSK health.
